A Message from Lyle Gallagher

My real estate career started in 1977 with Sterling Realtors in the Park Cities of Dallas. I initially sold real estate part time and helped my brother do appraisals part time. Later I became a Broker and then a full time appraiser in 1983. My brother and I pioneered the use of computers in real estate appraising.

His appraisal was 20% below what we sold the house for and the market declined considerably after the appraisal.  He mostly works with buyers looking for a bargain.  Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had Lyle from this group do a square footage appraisal done on a house we are interested in purchasing. Scheduling the appointment was fairly straightforward, and the appraiser came to the appointment on time. The report they generated approximately 48 hours later was also easy to follow. The reason I didn't give them a 5 out of 5 stars is that their initial square footage estimate came back almost 150 square feet less than the actual square footage of the house. The only reason I know it was wrong is that I informed the original homeowner that the appraisal came back much less than what he had listed the house for. The homeowner sent me a separate square footage appraisal he had gotten done. Once I spoke to Lyle about it further, he acknowledged a mistake had been made in his calculations. I was not expecting to be the one to point out such issues with an appraisal as getting the square footage right is exactly what I'm hiring them for!
